The Hamilton County Smash cocktail

Raise a glass and say a toast to the first official cocktail of Hamilton County. It’s called the Smash Cocktail made of 1205 Distillery New America Gin and Rhubarb Liqueur, simple syrup, fresh lemon juice and mint leaves. It’s a concoction created in partnership between the distillery and Hamilton County Tourism, which wanted an official drink for the county.

While 1205 Distillery is located in Fletcher Place near downtown Indy, there are plenty of connections to Hamilton County. The owners, Brad Colver and Nolan Hudson, are both Carmel High School graduates. They get plenty of clientele from the northside, too.

You can find the Smash Cocktail all around Hamilton County, but if you’re more of a do-it-yourselfer, here’s a recipe.

Smash Cocktail Recipe

1 oz. 12.05 New American Gin
1 oz. 12.05 Rhubarb Liqueur
¾ oz. simple syrup
¾ oz. fresh lemon juice
3-4 small mint leaves

Mix in a shaker with ice and serve over ice.
